On behalf of the Development Bank of Mongolia, it is my great pleasure to welcome fellow development finance leaders in the Asia-Pacific region to our beautiful country for the 43rd ADFIAP Annual Meeting. We are truly honored to host this prestigious event under the auspices of the Government of Mongolia.
Given our special mandate and role to contribute to the country’s sustainable development agenda, we, the development finance institutions always strive to come up with innovative solutions and instruments to ensure that the projects and programs in the priority sectors of the country are financed and managed sustainably, and their lasting socio-economic benefits are enjoyed by the society as a whole. It is in this light that we have chosen the theme, “DFI’s Role in Sustainable Development: Innovative Approaches and Instruments” for this year’s Annual Meeting to engage in an in-depth discussions in the areas that are highly relevant these days such as, financing climate change, infrastructure, technology, agriculture, and micro, small and medium enterprises through innovative ways of resource mobilization and capital build-up.
Mongolia is a country with unlimited development potential and enormous opportunities. We are one of the richest countries in the world for natural resources and much more remains to be discovered. Our industries are keen on attracting international investors and bringing global expertise and know-how. We consider the gathering of ADFIAP members in Mongolia a great opportunity to be acquainted with the investment climate in Mongolia firsthand, therefore we have invited the National Development Agency to make a presentation on it under the Special Interest Session. Moreover, as a host, our aim is that this year’s Annual Meeting sets a platform for the members to explore opportunities and potentials for closer cooperation in areas such as joint financing of certain projects of mutual interest. This in mind, we are going to propose a strategically important project in Mongolia for the members’ consideration of co-financing during the Special Interest Session.
Our bank has always valued its membership to the close-knit development finance community under the ADFIAP umbrella and hopes to strengthen and widen our participation and engage with fellow members more profoundly in the years to come. We, the Development Bank of Mongolia is truly excited to celebrate the friendship and networking of the members through the three days of engaging and interactive programme we have put together for this year’s Annual Meeting.
We look forward to welcoming you in Mongolia! The land of the blue sky, a nation deeply rooted in its rich history, a vibrant democracy with a magnificent nomadic culture.
